Starting my Isaac Build

While I have my CNC machine and lathe, there are times when a simple plastic model for visualization is more practical. Instead of the cost of aluminum, machine setup for subtractive prototyping I wanted the ability to do some additive prototyping as well. For now the expense of 3D printers are well beyound what i could justify. However 3D printing with RepRap technology or DIY 3D printing is very appealing, from the cheaper cost to also building the printer from scratch.

So this week I ordered and received a Isaac (#51) Mendal version which contains CNC cut plastic pieces instead of the normal RepRap printed parts. The parts are very cleanly machined and should provide a solid base to build on. The Isaac kit has less parts and the parts are designed to allow easy machining from CNC if desired.

While not all of the pieces are shown this is the basic kit from Fleming CNC.
